General Preferences
The General Preferences settings provide control for unrecognized
pages that you have scanned, and the prompt before deleting pages.
Auto Button Finishes All Unrecognized Pages
Select AUTO Button Finishes All Unrecognized Pages if you want
OmniPage Pro to finish all pages in a document when you click the
AUTO
button. If this is deselected, the AUTO button will only finish the
current page.
The operations that occur during automatic processing depend on the
currently selected commands in the AutoOCR Toolbar. See “Automatic
Processing” on page 26 for more information.
Prompt before Deleting Pages
Select Prompt Before Deleting Pages if you want OmniPage Pro to display
an alert message when you try to delete a page. This gives you the
option of canceling the delete operation.
See “Deleting a Page” on page 52 for more information.
Straightening Page Discards Color/Gray Image
Select Straightening Page Discards Color/Gray Image if you want
OmniPage Pro to discard all color (or grayscale) image data when you
use the Straighten tool in the Tools palette. Choosing this optional
allows the use of possibly better straightening algorithms.
If you choose this setting, be aware that using the Straighten tool will
remove all color and grayscale data from the scanned image. You will
not be able to save, or drag and drop color/grayscale components of the
scanned image for other applications.
Retained Graphics
The Retained Graphics settings enable you to define the dpi (dots per
inch) resolution as well as the color depth of graphic images in your
scanned documents. These settings do not affect the accuracy of OCR.
The 150 dpi setting provides the highest resolution, but consumes the
most disk space when the file is saved. You can use the 75 dpi setting to
save disk space, with a corresponding loss of image quality.
