The Scanner State
Macintosh: When you launch the plug-in its settings automatically initialize to
the state that they were in when it was last closed. Also, the last preview image that was
on screen will still be displayed in the preview window.
The plug-in allows you to save and restore settings of the plug-in state through its
preferences file. This will be explained in the next chapter.
Windows: When you launch the plug-in its settings automatically initialize to the
state that they were in when it was last closed.
With Coolscan, the plug-in allows you to save and restore settings of the plug-in
state through its NKNCTRL.INI file. This will be explained in Chapters 8 and 9.
Getting Help
Macintosh: Help can be accessed while in the Scan dialog box or in the Gamma
Curve Editor dialog box by clicking on the
I
NTERACTIVE
H
ELP
button. When inactive,
the
I
NTERACTIVE
H
ELP
button is displayed, as shown in Figure 7.32(a).
When active, the

button is replaced by a message box, as
shown in Figure 7.32(b). When the mouse cursor is placed over a control, the appropri-
ate help message for that control appears in this message box. For example, in the Scan
dialog box, suppose that the cursor was placed over the

. The message box would relay the information shown in
Figure 7.32(b). This function operates identically in the Gamma Curve Editor dialog
