number, the higher the quality of the resulting scan. The

ting essentially instructs the scanner on how to set the film scanning stage mechanism
inside the scanner. It refers to the pitch of the lead screw mechanism that drives the
film stage. The higher the pitch number, the more the stage moves for every scan line
and the lower the resulting resolution.
