Visual Focus Method

Macintosh: First, invoke the preview scan. Next, click on the

F

OCUS

button in

the Scan dialog, as seen in Figure 14.1. If the Focus Level Meter appears, you are in the
wrong focus mode for this method. Go back to the Tools dialog and make sure that the

S

CANNING

F

OCUS

check box is checked.

The Visual Focus method enables you to position a magnifying cursor over a

region of interest within the preview window. Position the cursor to indicate the
desired area for focusing, then click to set the current position. This will cause a
maximum zoom setting to be sent to the scanner and a region of the film surrounding
the position of the magnifying cursor will be repetitively scanned. This region will
then fill the preview window. During the focus operation, the

F

OCUS

button changes

to a

S

TOP

button. Clicking on the

S

TOP

button ends the Visual Focus operation.

The Scan dialog box is shown in Figure 14.4a, during a Visual Focus operation.
