Upgrading Your Workstation 9-25

Installation Order and Precautions

Your workstation may be equipped with only one DIMM, however, a pair of two DIMMs must be
used if you install DIMMs additionally.

When only one DIMM has been installed:

–

Move the DIMM from DIMM #1 to DIMM #3.

–

Install a pair of two DIMMs in DIMM #1 and DIMM #2.

–

To install four DIMMs, remove the DIMM from DIMM #1, and install the two pairs of
four DIMMs. Keep the removed DIMM for future use.

Pair 1: DIMM #1 and DIMM #2

Pair 2: DIMM #3 and DIMM #4

When two DIMMs have been installed:

–

Install two DIMMs in pair.

Pair 1: DIMM #1 and DIMM #2

Pair 2: DIMM #3 and DIMM #4

Use DIMMs of the same capacity and performance for each pair. Capacity of one pair may be
different from another pair.
