Overview
Vehicles with COMAND Online: the LINGUA-
TRONIC voice control system allows you to
operate the following systems, depending on
the equipment in your vehicle:
R
Telephone
R
Navigation
R
Address book
R
Audio equipment (radio, CD/DVD player,
memory card, hard drive, Media Interface,
USB, Bluetooth ® audio)
R
TV and video
Vehicles with Audio 20 and Garmin ® MAP
PILOT: you can only operate the Garmin
®
MAP
PILOT navigation system.

Operation with steering-wheel but-
tons
LINGUATRONIC is operational approximately
thirty seconds after the ignition is switched on.
ó Starts the dialogue with LIN-
GUATRONIC
ñ Ends the dialogue with LIN-
GUATRONIC
X Reduces the volume during
voice output
W Increases the volume during
voice output

To start a dialogue: press the ó button
on the multifunction steering wheel.
After a tone has sounded, you may say a voice
command.

To correct an entry: say the voice command
Correction Correction .
You will be prompted to say a new command.

To select an entry from the selection list:
say the line number or what it contains.
X
To browse the selection list: say the Con‐ Con‐
tinue tinue or Back Back voice commands.
You can interrupt LINGUATRONIC at any time by
saying the voice command Pause Pause . You can can-
cel LINGUATRONIC by saying the voice com-
mand Cancel Cancel or by pressing the ñ button on
the multifunction steering wheel. To continue or
restart the dialogue, press the ó button on
the multifunction steering wheel.
Say the voice commands without pausing
between individual words. If you enter a non-
existent voice command, LINGUATRONIC
responds with:
R
please repeat. please repeat.
or
R
please repeat your entry. please repeat your entry.
LINGUATRONIC confirms when you enter
important voice commands and informs you
when you make an ambiguous entry.
Command types
A distinction is made between the following
types of voice command in LINGUATRONIC:
R
global voice commands can be called up at
any time, e.g. the Help telephone Help telephone or Help Help
navigation navigation voice command.
R
local voice commands are only available for
the active application, e.g. Next station Next station ,
when the radio is on or Next Next track track , when the
CD/DVD is active.
R
voice commands that can be used in a dia-
logue, e.g. Yes Yes or OK OK .
You can operate more than one application at a
time. When the navigation and radio applica-
tions are active, for example, you can use both
applications simultaneously.
Entering digits and letters
To enter digits:
R
Digits from zero zero to nine nine are permissible.
R
Say phone numbers as blocks of digits with
three to five digits per block.
