CAUTION:
When laser products (such as CD-ROMs, DVD drives, fiber optic devices, or
transmitters) are installed, note the following:
v
Do not remove the covers. Removing the covers of the laser product could
result in exposure to hazardous laser radiation. There are no serviceable
parts inside the device.
v Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than
those specified herein might result in hazardous radiation exposure.
DANGER
Some laser products contain an embedded Class 3A or Class 3B laser
diode. Note the following.
Laser radiation when open. Do not stare into the beam, do not view
directly with optical instruments, and avoid direct exposure to the beam.
2. Read the safety information that begins in Safety and “Installation guidelines”
on page 36.
3. Turn off the server (see “Turning off the server” on page 24) and all attached
peripheral devices. Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all external
cables from the server.
4. Unlock and remove the left-side cover (see “Removing the left-side cover” on
page 39)

Open the bezel (see “Removing the bezel” on page 331)
6. Touch the static-protective package that contains the DVD drive to any
unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove the DVD drive from the
package.
7. Install the drive rail on the DVD drive.
8. Align the drive rail on the DVD drive; then, slide the DVD drive into the drive
bay until the rail click into right place.
