2. Daily quality control
2.1. General recommendations

Before analyzing any patient blood samples, it is recommended that the operator performs quality
control analysis on 3 levels of control blood material (low, normal and high) to verify that the
instrument is performing within the specified ranges of the quality control material.

Check control status (See Section 5, 2.3.1. Control status icons, page 5-4 ). If necessary, create a
control (See Section 5, 2.3.2. Control creation, page 5-5 ).
2.2. Running control blood (ABX Minotrol 16)
1- Enter " Sample identification " menu to identify the control.
2- Press " Sample ID " field to select it.
3- Read the contol label by means of barcode reader or type the control lot number (displayed in
the " QC " tab) using virtual keyboard (See 4.2. Sample identification using the virtual keyboard, page
4-15 ) or an external keyboard (if one is connected).
The control name is automatically displayed in the " Name " field and all other fields become
disabled.
4- Press " Close key to close the virtual keyboard if it is opened.
5- Press " OK " button to validate the control identification.
6- Follow the indications displayed in the " Sample analysis " dialog box and start the analysis.

7- The analysis cycle will begin. It will take approximately 60 seconds.
8- At the end of the cycle, the result prints out if this function is activated (See Section 6, 7.2.
Result settings, page 6-15 ). The " Sample analysis " dialog box is closed and results are displayed
(See Section 5, 2.4. QC results, page 5-9 to have detailed information on control results).
If any results are out of their acceptable ranges, perform the following steps:
1- Clean the system (See Section 7, 3.3.5. Concentrated cleaning, page 7-9 ).
2- Perform a repeatability and a calibration (See Section 5, 4.2. Calibration procedure, page 5-22 ).
3- Re-run the control blood.
4- Open a new vial of control material.
5- If the problem persists, call your local HORIBA ABX Technical Support Representative.
To be recognized, ensure that the typed control lot number has the same case
(lower or upper case) as the control lot number entered in the "
Control
Modification " screen. If it is correctly entered, " MINOTROL " will be displayed
in the " Name " field.
