Port Configuration
Once the ADT has been initialized and set up for basic operation, the individual ports must be
configured for the desired applications as needed.
•
Any front panel port can be configured for the async terminal server function or for async data
transport. Refer to the paragraphs on
TermServ/Transport Port Configuration
below.
•
Any front panel port can be configured for Dialin mode.
Refer to the paragraphs under
later in this chapter for details.
•
Port1 and Port2 at the front panel can also be configured as modem ports or for Bypass Mode.
Refer to
Bypass Modem Port Configuration
later in this chapter for
details.
•
Any front and rear panel port can be configured for Contact Sensing.
Refer to
Chapter 5, Additional Features
under the paragraphs on
for details.
Note
IMPORTANT ! When configuring a port, that port will be inaccessible to other authorized users. Therefore,
it may be desirable to disable the port for configuration, and then re-enable it.
TermServ/Transport Port Configuration
The port configuration procedure provided below is common to both modes of operation, except
where noted.
1. If desirable, disable the ports to be configured by typing:
configure ports disable port
[n]
or
all
2. With the SC-ADT’s Telnet cut-thru capability, users can access the desired port (TCP Port
2001 - 2032 corresponds to async Port1 - Port32, respectively), or can select the connected
device by its description from a Telnet menu. Enter a description for each configured Terminal
Server port by typing
configure ports description port
[#]
“your_description”
For example:
configure ports description port1
“XYZ_device”
3. To enable the Telnet menu, type:
configure ports tel-menu enable
4. For Transport mode only, configure each port for transport mode and with its remote port
number and IP address by typing:
configure ports tport port
[n] [remote IP address] [remote port number]
For example:
configure ports tport port5 192.200.12.6 port16
Note
For Transport applications, mode and IP address commands are automatically sent to the remote device.
5. Enable each configured Terminal Server or Transport port by typing:
configure ports enable port
[#] or
all
For example:
configure ports enable all
