Port Pooling
The SC-ADT can perform port pooling when an authorized user makes a Telnet connection to one
of eight virtual TCP ports: 2041 through 2048 . This feature groups four consecutive terminal server
ports so that the SC-ADT can direct a terminal connection automatically to the next available port
in the pool. Ports in a pool can be connected to four separate devices, or to four management ports
on a single device. Note that the Port Override function will not affect a pooled port in use.
No additional configuration is required for port pooling. Telnet access the TCP virtual port number
will activate port pooling (2041 - 2044 at the 16-port SC-ADT, 2041 - 2048 at the 32-port SC-
ADT). Authorized users Telnet to TCP ports as follows to access pooled ports:

show ports pool

Special Considerations - Modem Use
If Port1 and/or Port2 are configured for use by an external modem, these ports will be disabled as
user ports (Terminal Server ports or Transport ports). In such configurations, the
show ports
commands will display the following message:
port1 Unavailable: reserved by external dialup modem0
port2 Unavailable: reserved by external dialup modem1
To reclaim the use of Port1 and/or Port2 as user ports, configure the SC-ADT back to the default
modem use (internal) by typing the following commands:
configure modem use internal m0
configure modem use internal m1
