SC-ADT Interfaces/Connectivity
The typical installation environment for the SC-ADT device is a SpectraComm 5000 shelf,
SpectraComm 2000 shelf, or the SpectraComm 1001A/1002 standalone enclosures. In these shelf/
enclosure systems, the SC-ADT provides multiple physical interfaces, described below. The SC-
ADT is shipped from the factory with all ports set to
Disabled
except for the modem line port.
Note
for detailed views and information on rear panel connections to the SC-ADT.
Craft Port
The rear panel DB25 connector can make a craft port connection for local configuration and
monitoring. This RS-232 interface is fixed as serial async 9600 baud, 8 data, 1 start/stop, no parity.
Contact Sense
The rear panel DB25 connector can provide up to eight input connections to external dry contact
devices, and up to two output connections to internal relays. For input contact sensing via the front
panel interfaces, the SC-ADT can support 16 or 32 ports of Sense Mode or Range (Hi/Lo) Mode
connections to external dry contact devices. The SC-ADT polls both input and output connections very
rapidly, providing simultaneous contact sensing, SNMP traps and log entries for all configured ports.
Note
The rear panel DB25 connector allows simultaneous connectivity for local managment and contact sense
functions via the DB25M-to-wirewrap cable (
Figure 2-2
).
Ethernet 10/100BASE-TX LAN Ports (Logical E0)
At the shelf/enclosure rear panel, a RJ45 connector provides the Ethernet (LAN) interface for connecting the
SC-ADT to any standard 10/100B-T LAN device, including PCs, servers, hubs and switches.
Modem Ports (M0 and M1)
SC-ADT can be user-configured for an External, Internal or Bypass modem interface at front panel
Port1 and Port2:
•
Up to two external GDC SpectraComm V.34 modems can be connected to async Port1 and
Port2 for up to two Terminal Emulation (Hyperterm) or Dial-Up Networking (PPP) sessions.
The external modems supply phone line connectivity. For more information about these
external modems (SC V.F 28.8/33.6 or SC V.34 Dual) refer to the associated GDC manuals.
•
When factory-equipped with internal modems, the SC-ADT can employ Port1 and Port2 to
allow Dial-Up connections for up to two Terminal Emulation (Hyperterm) or Dial-Up
Networking (PPP) sessions. A rear panel RJ45 connector provides the modem/line interface for
the internal modems.
•
When Port1 or Port2 is configured for Bypass Modem Use, the SC-ADT can perform IP
transport (port forwarding for NAT transversal). No modem is required.
Terminal Server/Transport Ports (Ports 1 - 32)
Each front panel D-type 68-pin connector assembly provides eight 8-wire RS-232 terminal server
ports which can connect up to eight devices simultaneously. If Telnet cut-thru is used, the Telnet
ports 2001 - 2032 correspond to Port1 - Port32, respectively, and to Terminal Server menu items.
With SSH enabled, (Secure Shell), Telnet ports are 3001 - 3032. When configured for transport,
any port can transport async data to any async port at any remote SC-ADT location using TCP.
