Input Contact Sense Procedure
This procedure configures up to eight individual contacts at the rear panel DB25 interface for input
contact sensing, using the contact number
c
[#] in the command string. If desired, you can configure
a parameter for all contacts at once by typing
all
in place of
c
[#].
1. Connect the external device to the SC-ADT rear panel DB25 interface as described in
Chapter 2, Installation & Connections of this manual.
• Refer to Figure 2-1 or Figure 2-2 for SC-ADT rear panel connection details.
• Refer to Table 2-5 for DB25 interface pinouts.
2. At the SC-ADT, set the normal operating state of each contact by typing:
configure contact normal-state c
[#] [
NO
or
NC
]
where

[#] is a contact 1 through 8. The normal state for each is Normally Open (
NO
) or
Normally Closed ( NC ). Default is Normally Open.
3. If desired, enter an alphanumeric description for the individual contact by typing:
configure contact description c
[#] [“contact description”]
Note
If a space is desirable in the description, you must use a double-quoted string, as shown above.
4. Enable the individual contact by typing:
configure contact enable c
[#]
5. Repeat step 3. and step 4. for each dry contact device to be monitored by the SC-ADT.
6. Disable any unused contacts at the DB25 connector by typing:
configure contact disable c
[#]
7. The SC-ADT is now monitoring the enabled input contact interfaces at the DB25 connector.
• To view the current configuration parameters and status of all contact interfaces including
current state and alarm status, type:
show contact
• To manually clear an active alarm condition, type:
configure contact clear c
[#]
If the condition persists after clearing the alarm, a new alarm is generated, sending a new SNMP trap.
