Notes and Restrictions
This section describes the notes and restrictions to observe when using the machine.
Notes and Restrictions on the Use of the Machine
HDD (Optional)
z
When a HDD is installed, you can specify the hard disk as a storage location for print
data received from lpd, SMB, and IPP. The storage location for HP-GL/2 form is also
the hard disk, and cannot be changed to other locations.
z
The data erased by initializing the hard disk includes the added fonts, HP-GL/2 form,
ESC/P form, and SMB folders. Secure print documents and logs are not erased.
When the Print Results Differ from the Settings
As in the following cases, insufficient memory for the print page buffer may cause print
results to be different from what was expected from the settings. If this happens, we
recommend you to increase the memory.
z
Printed only on one side when 2-sided printing was specified.
z
A job was terminated (If data on a page cannot be written to the print page buffer, the
job including that page will be terminated).
Options
z
To use the Secure Print, Sample Print, and Delayed Print features, an optional HDD
need to be installed.
z
To use the machine as a PostScript printer, the optional PostScript3 kit need to be
installed.
Installing and Moving the Machine
z
When moving the machine to other location, contact our Customer Support Center.
z
When the machine is in operation, do not subject it to shock.
z
When closing the document cover, be careful not to trap your fingers.
z
Do not place any objects near the ventilation opening of the machine's extractor fan.
Meter Counts for 2-Sided Printing
z
When printing 2 sided, depending on the application the machine uses, blank sheets can
be inserted automatically to adjust pages. Such blank sheets inserted by the application
are also counted by the meter.
Blank Page Detection Feature
z
The accuracy of detecting blank pages vary depending on the type of documents. For
instance, if a document is so thin that the print on its reverse side can be seen through,
its blank pages may not be detected properly.
Immediate Fax Reception Mode
z
If the machine's memory becomes low while receiving a fax, the machine switches
into the "Immediate Reception" mode. In the immediate reception mode, the
machine starts printing the fax immediately after receiving a page worth of data.
However, if a large fax document like A3 including a halftone image such as a
photograph is received, the machine may not print it even when a page worth of data
is received. If this happens, press the <Stop> button or turn the machine off and on.
The machine will start to print the fax.
