Fuel tanks

The NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit with the TankSafe™ product is generally applicable to
the degassing of petroleum and diesel underground fuel storage tanks. Do not use on other fuels
or types of tanks without prior approval from FFS.

NOTE

: Not approved for LPG tanks.

While the amount of residual TankSafe™ in the tank is typically <10 ppm, it is the responsibility
of the user/operator to determine if the tank owner has any fuel compatibility requirements.
Contact FFS for data to support these requirements.

Underground fuel tanks degassed with the NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit must be drained
of fuel to “dead stock” level prior to degassing. Removal of all residual fuel prior to degassing is
required.

The operator of the NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit must assess any tank that requires
degassing prior to using the NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit to determine its suitability.

Certifications

ATEX Mark for NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit:

•

II 2GD IIC T4

• This marking indicates that the NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit can be used in areas

rated ATEX Zone 2. It is NOT certified for use in Zone 0 hazardous areas. (The inside of the
tank is Zone 0.)

• Applicable flammable gases based on the IIC mark are limited by the T4 temperature class

rating. This Unit can only be used for gases whose auto-ignition temperature is greater than
135 oC (275 oF) which includes petrol, diesel, and kerosene/jet fuel.

• CE Mark: The NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit bears the CE mark in addition to the ATEX

mark above.

• TankSafe™ product SDS - The SDS for the TankSafe™ product is included in the training

materials and is available on request.

Check and test

The word “check” indicates inspection only, while the word “test” indicates that some action or
procedure is required.

Required skills

Those who use this guide must be familiar with tank maintenance and operation, especially
degassing procedures. They must also have a strong understanding of LEL levels and be
competent to properly use an LEL meter to measure LEL levels.
