The next largest opening on the tank should be used to attach a temporary vent riser for the
outlet flow. This opening is typically 75 mm to 100 mm (3” to 4”) in diameter. This port is
preferably located on the opposite end of the tank from the inlet port but can be in a similar
location (i.e. in the same manway) as the inlet port if access elsewhere on the tank is not
available. As with the inlet, no internal pipework should be connected to this outlet opening. If
such an opening is not available, contact FFS.
The third largest opening available on the tank should be used to attach a second temporary vent
riser if a third opening is available. This port is also preferably located on the opposite end of the
tank from the inlet port but can be in a similar location (i.e. in the same manway) as the inlet port
if access elsewhere on the tank is not available. Preferably, this opening should also not have any
internal pipework.
Contact FFS for proper manufacturing of the inlet and outlet connections for the Model VSS
ST-1000. In general, the inlet connection should follow the guidelines illustrated in Fig. 11 below.
NOTE
: Use two vents where possible, or
use a Mini-Rocket to increase ventilation
and performance.
Figure 11. Inlet connection design for the NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit.
A camlock adapter (FFS part number NV-008) is needed. This expands the 100 mm tank inlet
opening to 200 mm (8”) diameter. Minimize the length of 100 mm diameter piping. Conductive
ducting with a 200 mm diameter should be used to connect the NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery
Unit to the camlock adapter. The configuration should result in a connection that does not allow
for kinks or sharp bends in the conductive ducting as shown above in Fig. 11.
The inlet connector should also have a short drop pipe that fits through the inlet opening on the
tank. The end of the pipe should be selected according to the flow direction required by the tank
configuration. The diameter of this part of the inlet connector should be as large as possible and
still fit through the inlet opening. The drop pipe should protrude into the tank and terminate at
the tank centerline. Examples of drop pipe ends and the correct orientation by tank configuration
are shown in Fig. 12.
