Temperature Overshoot
The Temperature Overshoot test demonstrates the ability of the temperature control component of
the incubator to recover from a drop in temperature as might be experienced when a portal in the
incubator is opened.
Air Control Overshoot (ACO)
is defined in clause 201.12.1.108 of the
Standard.
With a Control Temperature setting of 32 °C in Air Control Mode, the incubator is allowed to reach
STC . The Control Temperature is then set to 36 °C. The Incubator Temperature ( IT ) is
monitored. The overshoot is the maximum
IT
achieved after reaching 36 °C and must not exceed 2
°C above the set point. After the maximum temperature is reached, an equivalent of
STC
is
calculated and must be true within 15 minutes. The time to reach the new
STC
from the first
passage of 36 °C shall be measured.
Skin Sensor Accuracy
The sensor used to control the temperature in the Baby Temperature Control test must have
an accuracy as defined in the Standard under clause 201.12.1.103. Testing the accuracy of the
Skin
Temperature Sensor
(
STS
) requires the use of a separate (optional) temperature-controlled
‘oven’ module. The ‘oven’ can be set to a temperature of 28 °C to 40 °C. The
STS
is plugged into
the incubator’s temperature control module and the temperature sensing element is placed in the
‘oven’. The difference between the Skin temperature displayed on the incubator’s control module
and the oven’s temperature must not exceed 0.3 °C
Select All/Clear All
The
Select All
and
Clear All
buttons on the Autosequence display allow selection of every
parameter test (
Select All
) or no parameter tests (
Clear All
). These selections can be useful when
beginning to set up an Autosequence, depending on whether most of the tests are required or very
few tests are required.
