Temperature Timers
There are two settings that set a limit on the time that particular temperature tests will run, provided
a particular condition is met. In accordance with the Standard, vPad-TI is designed to recognize a
condition called the Steady Temperature Condition (
STC
), which is defined in the Standard, in
Section One, clause 201.3.211 as:
The Steady Temperature Condition is reached when the Incubator
Temperature does not vary by more than 1
°
C over a period of 60 minutes.
The Transport Incubator Temperature (
IT
) is also defined in the Standard (Section One, clause
201.3.212) as:
The Temperature of the air at a point 10 cm above the centre of the
mattress surface in the baby temperature compartment.
During a particular temperature test, once STC is reached the user can optionally set vPad-TI to
continue recording the temperature for an additional 5, 30 , 60, 90 or 120 minutes. If a timer is set,
vPad-TI will stop the test the selected number of minutes after
STC is reached. Alternately, the
time can be set to
continuous
, in which case the user can stop the test at any time after
STC
is
reached by touching the
Stop Test
button.
The same timer settings can be applied to the Temperature Overshoot test, where vPad-TI will
determine when
STC
has been reached after the prescribed temperature change has been detected.
Units
The units that the system will use for temperature reporting can be selected as either
°C
or
°F
. Note
that when switching units, the results may not be simple integers; for instance 36 °C will become
96.8 °F. It is best to select one unit of measure and stick with it.
Save Picture to JPG after test
The graph which represents the temperature versus time response of the incubator may be of
interest and can be saved to memory. If it is saved, the screen will display the image after the test is
accepted, and the filename of the image will be included in the test report.
Merge with Safety Test
The tests performed by vPad-TI can be quite time consuming, therefore it is generally impractical to
perform a safety test on an incubator and then do a performance test with the vPad-TI app, all as
