IV. TESTING
The testing function should only be used to see
and hear the operation of the unit to verify proper
functioning or as an aid during troubleshooting.
When TEST mode is active, stay clear of
moving parts. Watch the unit from a safe distance.
Do not touch any part of the unit when it is in
TEST mode. Serious injury may result.
WARNING
Never touch any part of the
machine while it is running.
Serious injury could result.
Only trained repair personnel
should work on this machine.
Always think carefully around
moving machinery.
NOTE:
Work with another
person. The “buddy system” is
the safest system.
When a test is started, the message screen
displays an output number for each device under
test. There are three types of outputs: 24VAC,
isolated transistor or relay.
24 VAC Outputs
The 24VAC circuit powers the coils of the
four contactors (CON1, CON2, CON3,
CON4), which in turn supply power to
all of the inverters and non-inverter con-
trolled motors in the machine.
For power to be available to the 24VAC
circuit, CB3 must be closed and T3 must
be working.
1.
2.
In addition, before the 24VAC circuit can
power the contactor coils, the 24VDC
start, control and safety circuits must be
powered and working.
If there is a complete failure of the 24VAC
circuit and CB3 and T3 are good, then
verify that the coils of CR0 (start circuit),
CR1 (DC control) and CR2 (E-Stop) are
all energized.
If all of these are good and there is still
complete failure of the 24VAC circuit,
then check CON1.
If there are partial failures within the
24VAC circuit, check the other contactors
as appropriate to the parts of the machine
not working.
If contactor functioning is verified, check
wiring and the devices themselves and any
related components for failure.
Isolated Transistor/Relay Outputs
Isolated transistors or relays are used to
activate certain controls such as a 24VDC air
solenoid valve, a photosensor, or other device.
The transistor/relay will turn on an input (0VDC)
to these subsequent devices.
When not activated, a device input should read
24VDC. If a device does not work during the test
function, follow the steps below.
Make sure that the LED is lighting on the
IO module during the test. This shows that
the IO module is functioning properly.
To check that a particular control is op-
erating properly, turn off the test mode
and check that voltage is available for the
output side of the control.
If voltage is available, check wiring and the
devices themselves for failure.
