Front Towing Eyes
The front towing eyes are provid-
ed under the front bumper. A driv-
er must be in the vehicle to steer it
and operate the brakes.
Towing in this manner may be
done only on hard-surfaced roads
for a short distance and at low
speeds. Also, the wheels, axles,
drive train, steering and brakes
must be in good condition.
CAUTION
When towing the vehicle with a
tow rope, the vehicle can be
damaged.
Use towing eyes only if no other
towing equipment is available
and only tow the vehicle from
the front.
Pull on the tow rope to make
sure it is securely fixed to the
towing eyes at both ends. Keep
the tow rope clear of the
bumper.
Drive off slowly and avoid jerky
movements.
CAUTION
When towing with a tow rope,
you could lose control of the
towed vehicle.
Do not tow the vehicle if the
wheels, transmission, axles,
steering or brakes are
damaged.
Do not remove the key from the
ignition switch, otherwise the
steering will lock, making the
vehicle undriveable.
NOTICE
Towing with a tow rope could
cause severe damage to the
automatic transmission. When
towing a vehicle with an auto-
matic transmission, use wheel-
lift or car-carrier equipment.

Rear Towing Hook
When towing another vehicle, use
the rear towing hook. It should be
used only in an emergency situa-
tion.
NOTICE
When the rear towing hook is
used, always pull the cable or
chain in a straight direction
with respect to the hook. Never
pull on the hooks at a sideways
angle.
To prevent damage, do not
take up slack in the cable too
quickly.

ENGINE OVERHEATING
CAUTION
Steam from an overheated
engine can burn you badly.
Stay away from the engine if
you see or hear steam coming
from it.
