CAUTION
(Continued)
The lap part of the belt should
be worn low and snug on the
hips, just touching the thighs,
not the waist. In a crash, this
applies force to the strong
pelvic bones, not the abdomen.
This helps avoid serious or even
fatal injuries.
Make sure the release button on
the buckle faces upward or
outward.
Be sure to insert the correct
latch plate into the appropriate
buckle.
Pull up on the latch plate to
make sure it is secure.
CAUTION
If a hard or breakable object is
between a safety belt and an
occupant, such as a ballpoint
pen or glasses in a pocket, the
occupant can be injured in the
event of a collision.
CAUTION
Improper use of a safety belt
can cause serious injury. Do not
modify the safety belt. Do not
add any device which would
affect the operation of the safe-
ty belt.
NOTICE
Before you close the door, make
sure the safety belt is out of the
way. Otherwise, the belt and/or
the vehicle body could be
damaged.
CAUTION
It is dangerous to operate the
vehicle with damaged safety
belts or other parts.
Replace a damaged safety belt
immediately.

ous injury or even death in a
crash.
Have the restraint systems
inspected after a collision.
Make any necessary replace-
ments as soon as possible.
NOTICE
If safety belt replacement is
necessary, it is recommended
that the entire safety belt
assembly be replaced.
