5. Tell TFTP to transfer the second file, (dnld_software). This transfer should
take approximately six minutes.
1.8.2 Retrieving All Parameters
TRTP is used for retrieval of the parameters of an ATX, as follows:
1. Start TFTP. TFTP must be told the IP address of the ATX, and the file transfer
mode (binary).
2. Tell TFTP to retrieve the unit’s Configuration file.
3. After about ten seconds, the TFTP operation will be complete.
1.8.3 Setting All Parameters
TFTP is used for bulk setting of all of the parameters of an ATX, as follows:
1. Start TFTP. TFTP must be told the IP address of the unit, and the file transfer
mode (binary).
2. Tell TFTP to retrieve the unit’s Configuration file.
3. After about ten seconds, the TFTP operation will be complete.
1.9 ADDITIONAL INTERFACES
In addition to SNMP and TFTP, the ATX employs the following protocols, as
part of its software interface with an NMS:
• UDP - User Datagram Protocol, RFC 768.
• IP - Internet Protocol, RFC 791.
• ARP - Ethernet Address Resolution Protocol, RFC 826.
• RARP - Reverse Address Resolution Protocol, RFC 903. RARP is only used
when no IP addresses have been assigned to the ATX.
• BOOTP - Bootshop Protocol, RFC 951 (will be used as an alternative to
RARP, so that the ATX can learn IP Addresses across networks connected by
IP routers that perform the BOOTP function).
NOTE
If the above TFTP sequence is abnormally terminated, there is
no cause for alarm, since the ATX maintains a back-up set of
software, and the ATX will not use the incomplete new
software.
