CHAPTER 6
BRIDGE MIB
The unit supports the Bridge MIB {mib-2 17} as defined in Definitions of
Managed Objects for Bridges, RFC 1286 (Decker, Langille, Rijsinghani, and
McCloghrie, editors).
The access types of some of the parameters have been extended from Read-Only
to Read-Write, indicatd by an asterisk (*); other parameters have been changed
from Read-Write to Read-Only, indicated by a number sign (#). The access type
of all other parameters is as indicated in the standard MIB.
The MIB tree prefix for reaching the Bridge MIB-II is:
1.3.6.1.2.1.
dot1dBridge
{mib-2 17}
6.1 BASE GROUP
dot1dBase
{dot1dBridge 1}
dot1dBaseBridgeAddress
{dot1dBase 1}
Octet String Read-Write*
The MAC address used by this bridge when it must be referred to in a unique
fashion. It is recommended that this be the numerically smallest MAC address of
all ports that belong to this bridge. However it is only required to be unique.
When concatenated with dot1dStpPriority a unique BridgeIdentifier is formed
which is used in the Spanning Tree Protocol.
The unit’s dot1dBaseBridgeAddress is derived from the serial number of the
Packet Processing Engine. It is not related to any of the port MAC addresses.
Specifying all zeroes for dot1dBaseBridgeAddress will cause the unit to revert to
its serial number derivation.
dot1dBaseNumPorts
{dot1dBase 2}
Integer Read-Only
The number of ports controlled by this bridging entity.
Identical to ifNumber; however, the unit prevents bridging from being enabled
for port 1, which is reserved for out-of-band management.
