SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The safety records of laboratory sterilisers are good,
but remember at all times that they should be treated
with respect and care.
Electrical and thermal fire risk
This equipment contains electrical circuitry which carries
sufficient energy to cause and sustain a fire. Active
system thermal energy-input protection and over-
current protection is provided on all appropriate circuits.
Safety-valve prevents excessive pressure build-up in the
chamber. The equipment is protected from overheating
by an electrical thermal cut-out sensing excessive boiler
temperature.
Temperatures due to the designed heat source(s) in
extreme fault conditions could attain 150°C internal to the
chamber/boiler.
Handling/moving
Lift at sides or rear of case, taking the load of the unit on
the base-plate. Do not lift or handle using the plastic door
cover or control panel or any other projection. Do not
drag across surfaces or the feet may be damaged.
Full details of weight and dimensions are supplied with
the machine.
Handling steriliser loads
Due care should be exercised when handling loads and
moving them in and out of the steriliser. The wide range
of loads that are used means that these instructions do
not cover instruction for manual handling of loads.
The users and supervisors of the machine must ensure
that all local regulations for health and safety and manual
lifting are complied with in the use of this machine.
Written instructions concerning these matters and general
laboratory practice for using the machine should be
drawn up and all users should be trained in the safe use of
the machine.
Damage disclaimer
The manufacturers or their agents cannot accept
responsibility for damage or consequential damage that
may be caused by waste heat, fire, exhaust gases, water,
steam, or steam condensate should the machine be
operated other than in accordance with the instructions in
the provided operating manuals.
This disclaimer also applies if the piping or internal
system of the machine is modified, misused, blocked or
obstructed, or by use of non-approved alternative spare
parts.
This disclaimer also applies if the system installation
does not comply with the requirements of the installation
drawings and other specifications that may be stated by
the manufacturers.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Incoming Inspection
After receiving your Astell Autoclave, carefully inspect
the outside of the shipping box for signs of damage. If
any damage to the container is found, note the location
with respect to the autoclave and check that area of the
autoclave carefully once it is fully unpacked. Observe
packing method and retain packing materials until
the unit has been inspected. Mechanical inspection
involves checking for signs of physical damage such as:
scratched panel surfaces, broken handles, etc. If any
damage is found, contact your dealer as soon as possible
so that they can file a claim with the shipping carrier
and also notify Astell Scientific. All Astell products are
carefully inspected prior to shipment and all reasonable
precautions are taken in preparing them for shipment to
assure safe arrival at their destination.
Note:
Lifting and carrying should always be done by two
people.
