Replacing the filter element in the DEF pump module:
A replacement kit contains 1 filter
bowl, 1 filter element, 1 diaphragm
and 1 small bottle “BIOLUBE” oil.
1.
To get access to the DEF pump module:
•
Increase the track width [1] (  113 ).
•
Turn the front wheels to the left [2].
2. Turn the engine off and take the ignition key
with you.
3. Wait 10 minutes: refer to the label [3].
4. Turn the key of the battery switch counter-
clockwise [4].
5. Disconnect the negative battery cable [5].
6. DEF is very corrosive. If
you spill DEF on electrical components,
these have to be replaced.
7. Remove the old filter bowl [6].
8. Remove the old diaphragm [7].
9. Remove the old filter element [8].
10. Clean the groove [9], the screw thread [10]
and the contact surface [11] with a moist
cloth.
11. Install the new filter element [8]. Do not
spray “BIOLUBE” oil on the O-ring.
12. Spray “BIOLUBE” oil [12] on the screw
thread [10] and on the new diaphragm [7].
13. Install the new diaphragm [7]. Push the thick
part of the diaphragm into the groove [9].
14. Clean the new filter bowl [6].
15. Install the new filter bowl.
16. Tighten the filter bowl with 59 lb-ft
(80 Nm)
.
17. Connect the negative battery cable [5].
18. Turn the key of the battery switch clockwise.
19. Start the engine and check for leaks.
20. Wash your hands with soap and water.
21. Dispose of used parts in accordance with
local regulations.
