6.31 Wheel nuts
WARNING Do not apply oil or grease on the screw thread.
Clean the contact surfaces of the hub and the wheel.
Use a calibrated torque wrench.
Retighten the wheel nuts according to the Maintenance schedule.
Tighten the wheel nuts in stages (refer to the tight-
ening torques below) and in the correct sequence
(refer to the illustration).
In case of 8 wheel nuts (M20 x 1.5):
Stage 1:
110 lb-ft
(150 Nm).
Stage 2: 220 lb-ft
(300 Nm).
Stage 3: 330 lb-ft
(450 Nm).
In case of 10 wheel nuts (M22 x 1.5):
Stage 1:
130 lb-ft
(180 Nm).
Stage 2: 270 lb-ft
(360 Nm).
Stage 3: 410 lb-ft
(550 Nm).
