The selection of an inappropriate option can grant unauthorised
access. The functionality and system security of SX-GATE could
be affected.
outgoing (ISP)
If the peer requires SX-GATE to authenticate using PAP or CHAP, SX-GATE will
transmit the credentials (login and password) you can specify below. A typical
case is a dial-up connection to a Internet access provider.
incoming (RAS)
In this case, SX-GATE will insist that the peer is authenticating itself using PAP.
In the user administration you have to add a user to group "system-ras" to grant
access for this user with the corresponding password. A typical case here is
dialing in from an ISDN router of a branch office.
RAS for single PC (proxyarp)
This option corresponds to the previous one. However, it is intended for dial-in of
single device (e.g. PC). An attempt will be made to integrate the user transparently
into the local network using proxy ARP. Here, the user's allocated IP address
must be a free IP address from one of the networks which are directly connected
to SX-GATE.
no authentication
Here, SX-GATE will refuses to authenticate itself and it will not require the peer
to authenticate. A typical example would be a leased line connection.
userdefined
This option is intended for special cases and should only be used upon
consultation of technical support.
Insert the login here that SX-GATE uses to sign on to the peer. Leave this field blank
if authentication is not required or if SX-GATE requires the peer to authenticate.
Password
Enter the password here that is used when the peer asks SX-GATE to authenticate
with PAP or CHAP.
Local IP address
Depending on the type of dial-up connection you can either accept a dynamic IP
assigned by the peer or specify an IP address.
