Extract and upload the backup file with the inbox or the home
directory to restore only one part of the users mail data. If the
home directory is to be restored but more recent data has to be
preserved, please download it with your IMAP program and the
backup functions of the webmail client respectively.
SX-GATE will restore a user's files only if all of the following conditions apply:
•
The user exists on SX-GATE
•
The user is member of group "system-mail"
•
The user's inbox is missing (Exception see below)
If you extract and restore the home directory backup file of an
individual user (folders-<username>.rbu) the existence of the
user's inbox is not tested. The home directory will be restored in
any case, provided the user itself is valid.
The first two conditions will make sure that disk storage is not wasted by the data of
no longer existing users or of users which are no longer allowed to send mails. The
missing inbox will ensure that no new emails get lost which arrive by accident just after
the restore process has been started. When restoring a mail backup file containing
multiple users, this condition comes in handy to select the accounts to be restored. You
can delete an inbox in the menu "Monitoring > Mail server".
A deleted inbox will automatically be recreated as soon as a new
mail is to be delivered.
