The SX-GATE ISDN card must be connected to a plug providing
an ISDN S0 bus. Point to multipoint is assumed, however
technical support can enable point to point mode.
ISDN protocol
First of all, select the appropriate D channel protocol. If the SX-GATE ISDN card is
connected directly to a socket of your telephone company then all over Europe you will
most likely have to select the Euro-ISDN protocol. Usually the same applies if SX-GATE
is connected to a PBX. However some PBX models use 1TR6 as internal protocol,
even if the public telephone network uses Euro-ISDN. In America you'll have to select
the NI1 protocol.
If the D channel protocol is not configured correctly, no ISDN
connection can be established.
MSN (resp. EAZ with 1TR6)
Usually it is not necessary to configure the correct MSN for outgoing calls. However if
you do not know the MSN you should use "0". A PBX might reject outgoing calls using
a misconfigured MSN, however some accept the call if MSN "0" is used.
With Euro-ISDN and a direct connection to the network of your telecommunications
company, you usually have to provide the phone number omitting the local area code
as MSN. On a PBX however you usually have to specify the the extension code only.
For the American NI1 protocol you have to supply the MSN and the Service Point
Identifier (SPID) in the format MSN:SPID.
If you are using the 1TR6 protocol you have to specify the "EAZ" which has to be
a single digit (usually 0 or 1) which has nothing to do with the phone number itself.
Entering more than one digit is not admissible.
