(from section 7 of the IEC61000-3-2 2001 standard)
For the following categories of equipment, limits are not specified in this
edition of the standard.
•
Equipment with a rated power of 75W or less, other than lighting
equipment.
•
Professional equipment with a total rated power greater than 1kW.
•
Symmetrically controlled heating elements with a rated power less
than or equal to 200W.
•

LLOWED
(From section 6.1 of the standard)
The following restrictions apply even to equipment to which no harmonic
current limits apply as defined in clause 7.
a) asymmetrical controls according to IEV 161-07-11, except where they
are the only practical solution to detect unsafe conditions;
b) half-wave rectification directly on the mains supply, except where it is
the only practical solution to detect unsafe conditions, or, where the
controlled active input power is less than or equal to 100W, or, where the
controlled appliance is portable equipment and is fitted with a two-core
flexible cord and is used for a short time, a few minutes only, for example
hair dryers
Symmetrical control methods which are prone to produce harmonics of low
order (n<40) in the input current may be used for the control of the power
