OFTWARE

Installing software will create a program shortcut in the ‘Voltech Software’

program group. Click on IEC 61000 Software' to start the software.

QUIPMENT

To test products to IEC61000-3, you will probably set up a test rig similar

to the one shown below.

PM3000

AC Source

Equipment Under Test

RS232 or
IEEE 488

In many cases, you will be able to use a single test rig for the evaluation of

a number of different products to the IEC61000-3 specification. Therefore,

the IEC61000-3 software has a ‘Setup’ menu, which allows you to

configure the test equipment and the type of test to perform first.

PC to PM3000 Connections

To communicate between the PC and the PM3000, either RS232 or IEEE

488 communications can be used. If you are using IEEE 488

communications, you will need an RS232 to GPIB converter.

If you are using RS232 as the communications method, then you will be a

9 way female to 25 way male Null Modem cable (see section 8.3.2 of the

PM3000A user manual for exact pin connections).
