Chapter 4 Testing and Configuring the TimeHub
Testing the NTP Cards
For this example two NTP Server cards have been installed on a Master shelf in
slots 3B and 4B.
1. Verify the state of the bonding mode:
RTRV-EQPT::S0-OUTB:CTAG:::PARAMETER=BONDMODE;
If the response is N, skip to step 3.
2. Disable the bonding mode if it is active:
ED-EQPT:::S0-OUTB:CTAG:::BONDMODE=NOBOND;
ED-EQPT::S0-OUTB:CTAG:::NTPPAIR=APPLYCFG;
3. Set the NTP Server card in slot 3B as the Active card:
ED-EQPT:::S0-OUT3B:CTAG:::NTPSLOT=ACT;
4. Repeat steps 1 – 10 of the procedure in
Verifying the NTP Server Function
page 191 to verify that the NTP Server card in slot 3B is functional.
If the NTP Server card or the connection to the NTP Server card is not working,
a message appears that says SymmTime cannot connect to the server.
Troubleshoot the connection first, then the NTP Server card.
5. Set the NTP Server card in the slot 4B as the active card:
ED-EQPT:::S0-OUT4B:CTAG:::NTPSLOT=ACT;
6. Click
Sync Now
in the SymmTime application. The new time and any offset
from the NTP Server card appears. This verifies that the NTP Server card in slot
4B is now working with the same IP address as the NTP Server card in slot 3B.
If the NTP Server card or the connection to the NTP Server card is not working,
a message appears that says SymmTime cannot connect to the server.
Troubleshoot the connection first, then the NTP Server card.
Click
Sync Now
a few more times and verify the response.The switch may
delay the response.
7. Remove the cable from the Port A SFP on the NTP Server card in slot 3B.
