Layer 2 Functional Specifications
13. VLAN
Up to 256 VLANs may be created simultaneously. The VLAN ID Range is 1 to 4094
and supports port based VLAN as each port may be configured as a PVID (default
1). "Protocol base VLAN: protocol value + enc type. Users can select the protocol
as 'IP', 'novell', 'netbios', 'appletalk' for standard value, and can define the
protocol value as other value with the format 'other <aa:aa>'. For L2 enc, user
can select three types as 'enet-V2', 'llc' and 'snap' The standard can be overridden
by a user defined value. Enc type includes ether-v2, LLC, and SNAP. llc
is ipx-raw packets (or other FF:FF + llc). Users may only specify up to 10 protocol
VLAN groups. If there is a port attached with a VLAN group, this group can not
be deleted. Management VLAN supports only clients which belong to specified
VLANs that are allowed access to the switch.
14. Private VLAN Edge (Port Protected)
Supports port protection by assigning a configured bridge forwarding destina-
tion (uplink interface) to all traffic received on the port, regardless of the outcome
to the FDB destination lookup. The uplink interface can be an Ethernet port or a
channel (trunk ID).
15. Telnet
The system supports telnet client and server functions with up to 4 telnet sessions.
Users may use all CLI commands over a telnet session. The telnet function can
be disabled and telnet clients can be used to telnet a specified server with a
specified port.
