Alerts where no additional information for decision support is necessary.
Alert is not directly related to the collision avoidance task, it is more
common or is generated by supporting sub systems like navigational
sensors.
Example: position lost
Category C
Alerts that cannot be acknowledged on the bridge. RADAR 4600 does not
use category C alerts.
Example: alerts from the main engine
3.7.4
Alert escalation
In accordance to the BAM requirements, the following escalation scenario is implemented:
All warnings are repeated as warnings after the escalation time expires;
No warnings are changed to alarms.
The default alert escalation time is set to 60 seconds.
3.7.5
Indication of alerts
If an alert situation occurs:
- An audible alarm will sound
- The menu button [ALARM] starts blinking in red.
- If a target alert occurs, the regarding object blinks in red, and the target circle
gets bigger
- Objects, which cause the alert, are shown in the alert menu list. If the list is not
shown, click [ALARM].
The ALARM menu list shows all objects,
which cause an alarm.
Not acknowledged alarms are blinking,
acknowledged are shown steady.
3.7.6
Acknowledgement of alerts:
In alert list click the regarding blinking line. If alert still is active, the blinking changes to steady light. If alert
is gone in the meantime, the alert note will be deleted.
If a lot of new alerts of same type occur, they may be acknowledged together:
First click button [Group Ack]
Then click one alert
of regarding group: ‘Target …’ - ‘CPA/TCPA alarm …’ - ‘Lost …’.
Then all alert sof same group will be acknowledged together.
Suppress audible alerts:
To get no audible alerts, click [SILENCE], to deactivate this function.
