Chapter 3

Setup and Installation

Overview

This chapter describes the procedures to install and setup the OmniStor 4900F Series 
Storage System. Each section will step you through the hardware installation, cabling 
and topology configurations.

It is important to thoroughly review this information and perform the steps of 
procedures in each applicable section in the order in which they are presented. This 
will ensure a smooth and trouble-free installation.

The installation is divided into two sections. The first section describes installing the 
enclosure(s) into the rack cabinet or installing the enclosure chassis into the tower 
stand. The second section describes the topology operating mode configuration and 
cabling the enclosure(s).

NOTE:

For installation using DC Power Supply systems, be sure to review the “DC 
Source Site Requirements” on page 5 and “Cabling the DC Power Supplies” on 
page 54.

You should review the “Topologies and Operating Modes” on page 25 to ensure a 
complete understanding of the options available.
