VT-100 Interface Enclosure Monitoring
Another feature of the OmniStor 4900F Series storage system is the ability to monitor
itself. The user can interact with the system through a VT-100 terminal interface. The
firmware based monitoring program allows users to view component status and
firmware specific information. You may access this program by connecting a VT-100
terminal to the SES Controller card RS-232 Service port.
To access the monitoring program:

Connect one end of the null-modem serial cable to the RS-232 Service port
located on the SES Controller card.

NOTE:
The cable is a female-to-female DB-9 null-modem serial cable and is
included with the storage system. Refer to “Null-Modem Cable
Specifications” on page 171 for cable specifications.

Connect the other end of the cable to either a host system’s RS-232 serial
communication port or a VT-100 type terminal.

On the host system, run a terminal emulation program or start the terminal.

Verify the communication parameters are as follows:
•
9600 Baud
•
8 Data bits
•
1 Stop bit
•
None (parity)
•
Flow Control Off

At the screen cursor, type <Control-E>. The Enclosure Terminal Utility menu
will appear.
