Reconfiguration Times
The channel group can be configured for permanent or time-of-day operation. With time-of-day
operation, you can specify that the channel group will connect or disconnect at a predetermined
time. Alternatively, you can set the channel group to permanent. You can also configure
time-of-day operation for the channels in the channel group to reconfigure their connection states
and/or speeds.
Attribute Routing Requirements
For each physical and logical attribute, the attribute request can be specified for the channel group.
The selections are require, prefer, avoid, and ignore (the choices are limited to require or ignore
for the Clear Channel attribute). These selections are described below.
require
The channel group can only take routes that satisfy this attribute.
prefer
The channel group will be routed over a route that satisfies this attribute if it is available
before it will be routed over an alternate route that does not.
avoid
The channel group will not be routed over any path that possesses this attribute.
ignore
The channel group will ignore this attribute for routing purposes.
Fixed Route Assignments
A channel group can be automatically routed through the network (automatic) or you can specify
the route (fixed). There are three fixed routing fields. If the first route fails, the multiplexer will
attempt to reroute the channel group to the second choice route. Likewise, if both the first and
second routes fail, the multiplexer will attempt to reroute the channel group to the third choice
route.
You specify fixed routes by providing the node by node and/or logical link path for the channel
group to take. An entry into a foreign network is indicated in this fixed route by specifying the
network ID (NID#) – this specification is not necessary if a logical link routes through the foreign
network.
Fixed Time Slots
When fixed route assignments are provided, fixed time slots must be specified for the channel
group when the endpoint node is connected to a foreign network, and logical links are not available
for the node (pre-Feature Package 3.2.1/4.1.1 nodes).
