You can now disconnect the terminal or PC from the multiplexer and then connect the cables
between the NMS host computer and the multiplexer.
Event Log Printer (ELP) NAP
The event log printer (ELP) port is a one-way communication link that sends event data to a printer
from the network nodes.
CAUTION
Once a NAP is configured as an event log printer port, it can
only be changed from another node with SDL connectivity to
this node or by using a pen (or other pointed instrument) to
press the RESET button below the NAP. After pressing the
RESET button, you may need to press the Enter key on the
asynchronous terminal or PC connected to that NAP several
times before you see a valid prompt. The RESET operation
restores the NAP to its default ‘‘supervisory” configuration.
After the terminal or PC and the multiplexer are turned on, the following message and prompt
appear:

If you are at the Network Configuration menu, start at Step 6. If you
are not within the multiplexer’s menu hierarchy, start at Step 1.
To configure an ELP NAP,
1. TYPE: 0 (zero)
PRESS: Enter
to access the control mode of the multiplexer. The screen appears Password?
2. TYPE: the current password
The default password is enter. The password does not appear on the screen.
PRESS: Enter
The screen displays the prompt:
