Alerts (Alarms and Events)
List of Alerts
For a detailed list of alerts that are reported to the 6800 Series NMS, see the COMSPHERE
6800 Series Network Management System User’s/System Administrator’s Guide. For a complete
list of alerts for each device, see the device’s user’s manual.
Alert Filtering
The 6800 Series NMS assigns related ACCULINK multiplexer alerts to predefined alert groups.
Users control filtering of all alerts assigned to a given group by editing the group’s attributes. For a
complete discussion of the general filtering mechanisms provided, see the COMSPHERE
6800 Series Network Management System User’s/System Administrator’s Guide.
Alert Groups
Tables 1-3 through 1-6 summarize the predefined alert groups established by the 6800 Series NMS
for ACCULINK devices. The pound sign (#) at the end of each alert group name may be replaced
with the numbers 1, 2, or 3. For example, the alert group name mux-event# implies that three alert
groups are actually defined
—
mux-event1, mux-event2, and mux-event3. By default, priority-1
alerts are assigned to alert group names ending with 1, priority-2 alerts to alert group names ending
with 2, and so on.
All alert groups follow this naming convention except those defined for channel-group alarms. As
an example, for device type mux, the three alert groups are mux-cglarm, mux-cglarm2, and
mux-cgalrm3. Priority-1 alarms are assigned to the first group. This break with convention is
necessary for the ACCULINK Network Management application to remain compatible with the
6800 Series NMS Platform software.
