Also, if you want to continue to communicate with the multiplexer from an attached terminal or
PC, a supervisory NAP must be configured on the multiplexer. Because supervisory NAPs are the
factory settings for the two NAPs on a 74x multiplexer, you may only need to verify that your
multiplexer’s port has the correct settings.
After the terminal or PC and the multiplexer are turned on, the following message and prompt
appear:

To configure a supervisory NAP for the External Systems task, perform the following steps:
1. Access the control mode of the multiplexer,
TYPE: 0 (zero)
PRESS: Enter
The screen displays
Password?
2. TYPE: the current password
The default password is enter. The password does not appear on the screen.
PRESS: Enter
The screen displays the prompt:
Node # : menus (y/n)
3. TYPE: y
PRESS: Enter
The Function menu appears (the menu is the same for the 731/74x multiplexers).
4. TYPE: 2
PRESS: Enter
The Configuration menu appears for the 731/74x multiplexer.
5. TYPE: 4
Network if configuring a 745 multiplexer
or
TYPE: 3
Network if configuring a 731/74x multiplexer
PRESS: Enter
The Network Configuration menu appears for a 731/74x multiplexer.
