Hot swap recording
When P2 cards are inserted in both of the microP2 memory
card slots, continuous recording spanning both cards is pos-
sible. You can also record continuously on three or more
cards (hot swap recording) by replacing one card while re-
cording on the other.
Note:
• P2 card recognition may be delayed and prevent hot swap re-
cording depending on the timing at which a P2 card is inserted
in the empty slot (immediately prior to or after recording contin-
ues onto the other card).
It is recommended to insert a P2 card when there is still at least
1 minute of time left on the card currently being used for record-
ing.
• The unit does not support hot-swapping during playback.
LOOP REC
LOOP REC is a function for recording continuously while suc-
cessively switching the card target for recording when two P2
cards are inserted in the microP2 memory card slots. Record-
ing can be performed continuously by returning to the first
card when the available space on the P2 cards has been used
up and then overwriting the old recording with the new record-
ing.
To use the LOOP REC function, select “LOOP” in the “RE-
CORDING” (
➝
page 97) menu item.
Note:
• The LOOP REC function can only be used with microP2 memory
cards. It cannot be used with P2 memory cards.
• Use P2 cards with at least one minute of free space for loop re-
cording.
• During loop recording, all of the P2 card access lamps for the
P2 cards used for recording are lit orange. Note that removing
any of the P2 cards will stop loop recording.
When “LOOP” is selected in the “RECORDING” menu item
• "LOOP" is displayed on the second line of the OSD. However,
even when “LOOP” is selected in “RECORDING,” the loop re-
cording will not work if only one card is inserted or the remaining
recording time on a card is less than 1 minute. Should this hap-
pen, “LOOP” will flash on the OSD.
• The remaining space of P2 cards is indicated as the standard
guaranteed recording time according to the recording format.
When loop recording is stopped right after deleting old data, the
actual remaining time may be shorter than indicated.
• Proxy recording cannot be performed.
During loop recording
• Shot marks cannot be added or deleted. Also, text memos can-
not be added.
Canceling loop recording mode
• Select “NORMAL” in the “RECORDING” menu item.
AUTO REC
When a camera compatible with the function is connected via
HD SDI or HDMI, starting and stopping recording on the unit
can be automatically controlled using the REC START / STOP
function on the camera.
1.
Match the “AUTO REC” (
➝
page 97) menu item to
the camera to be used.
2.
Press the [REC]
button and [PAUSE]
button
on the unit simultaneously to switch to REC PAUSE
mode.
Now you can start and stop recording on the unit using the
REC START / STOP function on the camera.
Note:
There may be a delay in the recording start and stop operations
on the unit in relation to those of the camera, and complete accu-
racy is not guaranteed.
SIMUL REC
This is a function for recording the same images to two P2
cards when two P2 cards are inserted in the microP2 memory
card slots.
To use the SIMUL REC function, select “ON” in the “SIMUL
REC” (
➝
page 97) menu item.
Note:
• The remaining amount of time (of the memory card with less re-
maining space) for SIMUL REC will be displayed for the remain-
ing space indication of the media.
• SIMUL REC will stop if either of the P2 cards in the respective
slots runs out of space.
• SIMUL REC will not be possible if “1080-59.94P” or “1080-50P”
is selected in the “LINE&FREQ” (
➝
page 114) menu setting.
• If a recording error occurs and causes recording to stop on one
of the P2 cards during SIMUL REC, recording will continue on
the other P2 card. However, recording will end if a card is re-
moved while it is being accessed.
• Make sure both P2 cards are recognized before starting record-
ing. If you start recording before both P2 cards are recognized,
normal recording will be performed on the one card that was
recognized. The card status is checked when recording is com-
plete. If two cards are recognized at that time, SIMUL REC will
be performed.
When “ON” is selected in the “SIMUL REC” menu item
• “SIMUL” is displayed on the second line of the OSD. Even if
“SIMUL REC” is set to “ON”, however, SIMUL REC will not func-
tion if one of the cards is not inserted. Should this happen,
“SIMUL” will flash on the OSD.
• If you press the record button while “SIMUL” is flashing, normal
recording will be performed on the card with remaining space.
Canceling SIMUL REC mode
• Select “OFF” in the “SIMUL REC” menu item.
