8.3
Brake test sequence
The brake test sequence is different, depending on whether the
evaluation is carried out manually or by the test stand (automati-
cally).
8.3.1
Brake test with manual evaluation
Make sure that there are
no
persons in the test
stand area!
Danger to life
for any persons in the test roller area!
Observe the
regulations for the prevention of acci-
dents
!
In case of danger, press the
„EMERGENCY STOP switch“ (13)!
!
Drive the vehicle
slowly
into the roller sets.
Orient yourself by the guiding mark (24).
In doing so, it is guaranteed that
- the wheels are approximately in the middle of the test rollers,
- that the vehicle is in alignment,
- that the tire shoulder is free and does not touch the cover
sheets.
Select the mode of operation „Automatik“ or „Hand“.
Hold tight the steering wheel after the drive motors were activa-
ted.
If the vehicle
does not stand at right angles
to the test
stand, it will drift to the side!

If the axle actuated by the parking brake is not to be tested, avoid
a lateral drift of the vehicle by applying the parking brake.
i
Secure the wheels outside the test stand by wheel chocks
if you test the parking brake.
i
Wet brakes falsify the measuring values.
Brake the brakes dry with medium braking force!
Slowly increase the braking force.
The display unit shows the braking forces of the left-hand and
right-hand wheel brakes. If the braking force difference exceeds
25 %, the indicator light „Braking force difference! (1) lights up.
The braking force difference of 25 % is factory-set. Our customer
service can set a different value.
Special features
The BT 6xx has 2 combination brake force displays with the
display ranges 0–8 kN and 0–40 kN.
If the display is in the range 0–8 kN, the measuring range light „0–
8kN“ (2.1.1) lights up.
As soon as the left-hand or right-hand braking force exceeds 8 kN,
there will be an automatic change-over to the display range 0–40
kN and the light goes out.
If the slip limit is reached, the drive motors of the roller sets are
deactivated automatically. The indicator light „Slip deactivation
RH/LH“ (3) indicates the side having caused the slip.
If the brake test braking force is so low that the automatic slip
deactivation is not actuated,
Press the key
S
(58).
The driving motors will be deactivated. The brake force course is
stored.
!
Drive off the vehicle from the test stand only
in forward
direction
and
when the test rollers are running
!
Now, the next axle or brake system can be tested.
