Functional description
The brake test stands serve for checking brake systems on
vehicles.
For this test, the vehicle must be driven with the wheels of the axle
(32) to be checked into the roller sets (18), (19).
Figure 6 shows the left-hand roller set as sectional view.

Chain for frictional connection of test rollers
The RH and LH brakes are tested separately.
The tester can perform the brake tests for all axles without leaving
the vehicle.
The drive motors of the roller sets (18), (19) can be switched on
by the remote control (option) or automatically. The touch rollers
(29), (30) are pressed downwards when the vehicle drives into
the roller sets. By this, the drive motors of the roller sets (18), (19)
are activated automatically. If the axle leaves the roller sets (18),
(19), the touch rollers (29), (30) will move upwards again. The
drive motors are deactivated automatically.
The test rollers (18), (19) are coated. Even with low axle load, high
brake forces are transmitted due to the very high frictional
coefficient. If the brake force becomes higher than the frictional
force between wheel (33) and test rollers (18), (19), the wheel
begins to slip (the wheel is blocked). Therefore, the braking force
is no longer measured, but the slippage resistance between the
wheel (33), and the test rollers (18), (19). Such a measuring result
is useless for the brake test.
The automatic slip deactivation prevents these erroneous measu-
rements and wheel damages. The slip value is determined by
measuring the rotational speed by means of the touch rollers (29),
(30). If the maximum permissible slip value is exceeded, the drive
motors are switched off. The brake force display indicates the
maximum braking force at the time of switching off.
The measuring values are communicated to the computer for
evaluation. Measuring logs can be printed out.
