The radio pressure sensors basic kit is suitable for the majority of
trucks since these are equipped with compressed-air brake
systems. The pneumatic pressure sensors operate from 0 - 20
bars. This measuring range is the same for all radio pressure
sensors. The base station continuously requests all measuring
values of the radio pressure sensors connected to the truck and
transmits them to the test stand control system.
Other functions
The quality of reception of the communication between radio
pressure sensor and base station is permanently monitored in
order to prevent the loss of radio pressure sensors. Thus, an
undesired driving away of vehicles equipped with radio pressure
sensors can be detected and displayed. For signalization, any
desired additional devices (alarm sirenes, warning lights, etc.)
can be connected to the test stand. A corresponding interface
relay for triggering the external warning devices is part of the
scope of the delivery of the optional extras.
Radio pressure sensor with pneumatic connection
Radio pressure sensor
The radio pressure sensor is suitable for measuring pneumatical
pressures of 0 - 20 bars. It consists of a shock-proof plastic
housing. Aerial and accumulator are integrated into the housing.
Thus, they are insensitive to mechanical stresses and transmissi-
on trouble.
Radio receiver
Receiver for radio pressure sensors
The radio receiver serves for the acquisition of measuring data of
pz and pm. It consists of a printed circuit board with receiver and
an aerial with coaxial connection line.
Base loading station with loading shells
The base loading station consists of a wall mounting bracket
serving as seat for the radio pressure sensor loading shells. The
loading station is supplied through a plug-in power supply unit.
The individual radio pressure sensor units are loaded inductively
and therefore contactless. Thereby, possible problems occurring
in the course of time due to loading contact corrosion are
eliminated. This is very important for harsh workshop environ-
ments and offers a number of benefits.
Apart from loading, the base loading station serves also for
accommodating up to 5 radio pressure sensors in the loading
shells. The base loading station must permanently be connected
to mains in order to load up the accumulators of the radio pressure
sensors correctly.
!
The base loading station must only be operated in closed
rooms since it is not water-proof.
The operating time of the accumulators depend on the ambient
temperature during operation. On each radio pressure sensor, a
LED on the front of the unit indicates the loading status.
With fully loaded accumulators, the radio pressure sensors can
be used for about 15 hours at a room temperature of 20 °C in the
normal working rhythm common for the workshop. For an ambient
temperature of 0 °C, normal shop work is possible for about 8
hours without the need for loading.
The accumulators are only loaded if they are at least half dischar-
ged. If the loading status of the accumulators amounts to more
than 60 %, the loading circuit switches over to stand-by operati-
on, this means that no loading is performed. This saves the
accumulator capacity and prolongs accumulator service life. The
loading time from half discharge amounts to about 10 hours for
new accumulators. For a full discharge of the accumulators, a
loading time of about 20 hours is required to reload them
completely.
If the accumulators are completely discharged, the capacity lasts
for about 30 minutes measuring service after one hour of loading.
The radio pressure sensors can be plugged into the loading
station again at any desired time, even for short periods. The
accumulator power management function decides on its own
whether and when the accumulators must be loaded.
The following conditions are indicated by the accumulator char-
ging light (LED):
· All LEDs off – accumulators totally discharged (at least 1 hour
of hanging into the loading station necessary)
· Yellow LED, 1 x short flashing - accumulators are loaded,
charge in stand-by
· Yellow LED, 2 x short flashing - accumulators are being loaded
· Red LED, 1 x short flashing - accumulators are totally dischar-
ged: transmitter must be inserted into the loading station
During the night, the radio pressure sensors must be hooked into
the loading station.
!
Please make sure that the loading station is energized also at
night and that it is not switched off by the main switch.
