LED signals of the radio pressure sensors - General mea-
nings
On each radio pressure sensor, there are three coloured LEDs
(red, yellow and green). These LEDs show the current mode of
operation. The meanings of the LEDs are defined as follows:
· Green, 1 x short flashing - ready to send (stand-by)
· Green, 2 x short flashing - ready to send + contact to base
station established
· Green, permanent flashing - ready to measure
· Green, permanent flickering - active measuring process, trans-
mission of data
· Yellow, 1 x short flashing - accumulators are loaded, charge in
stand-by
· Yellow, 2 x short flashing - accumulators are being loaded
· Red, 1 x short flashing - accumulators are totally discharged:
transmitter must be inserted into the loading station
· Red + yellow: Both are flashing - administrator mode active
(must only be activated by service technicians). Only possible
in the loading station. This mode is cancelled by taking out.
When hooking the radio pressure sensors into the loading
station, the LED must flash red once (exception: accumulators are
totally discharged).
!
Please always make sure that the loading station is energi-
zed.
Braking pressure measurements with radio pressure sen-
sors
!
Before connecting the radio pressure sensors to pressure
valves of the vehicle brake system, make sure that the sensor
measuring range cannot be exceeded in any case!
!
The radio pressure sensors are measuring equipment which
must be treated carefully. Despite the robust construction, it
is prohibited to throw or drop the radio pressure sensors.
Avoid driving over the sensors by vehicles in any case!
The radio pressure sensors have to be connected to the testing
connections of the vehicle braking system for performing braking
pressure measurement. By means of suitable tools, the radio
pressure sensors are attached in the correct position on the
vehicle frame. Make sure that the radio pressure sensors are
mounted to the vehicle in such a way that they cannot be driven
over unintentionally during measuring or after the measuring
process, if the operator forgets to remove the sensors.
The correct connection of the radio pressure sensors to the
position of the vehicle brake system provided for this must be
ensured by the user. This is a precondition for correct data
evaluation with regard to vehicle braking pressures.
!
From time to time, clean the housings and remove oil. The
radio pressure sensors must not be submerged in liquids!
In order to prolong the service life of the accumulators, the radio
pressure sensors switch over automatically to the sleep mode
after about 2.5 h. In this mode, no LED lights. The radio pressure
sensor can be „woke up“ by short-time plugging in of the module
into the contactless loading circuit.
Assignment of radio pressure sensors to vehicle axles
After pressing the CLEAR key <C> (61) on the infra-red remote
control (optional extra), there is the following assignment:
· Radio pressure sensor Pm provided for measuring the pressure
pm at the coupling head of the brake
· Radio pressure sensor PZ1 provided for measuring the pressu-
re pz of the
1
st
axle to be tested
· Radio pressure sensor PZ2 provided for measuring the pressu-
re pz of the
2
nd
axle to be tested
· Radio pressure sensor PZ3 provided for measuring the pressu-
re pz of the
3
rd
axle to be tested etc.
If an assignment different from this basic assignment is desired,
the assignment can be changed as desired.
For this, enter the following data:
· Axle - indication of axle number (X) to which a radio pressure
sensor shall be assigned
· Radio pressure sensor - indication of sensor number (Y) which
shall be assigned to the axle mentioned above
EXAMPLE
for entering order
The radio pressure sensor PZ2 shall be assigned to the third
vehicle axle. Input:
· Press the key <Druck> (63),
· enter the relevant axle number (e.g. axle 3) „3“ (61), select the
relevant axle by pressing the key <Achse> (64)
· Enter the sensor number (e.g. radio pressure sensor PZ2) „2“,
· confirm the manual assignment by pressing the <ENTER> key
(60)
By this, the radio pressure sensor PZ2 was assigned to axle 3 (in
this example).
This process can be repeated for other axle/radio pressure
sensor assignments.
By pressing the CLEAR key <C> (61) on the remote control unit
(optional extra), the test stand is reset to the basic assignment of
radio pressure sensors.
Braking pressure measurements with radio pressure sen-
sors
The radio pressure sensors must be connected to the truck
braking system according to their assignments.
Service with radio pressure sensors is automatically detected by
the brake test stand after axle selection. The radio signals of the
radio pressure sensors PM and PZ are evaluated correspondingly
by the test stand.
Radio pressure sensors not required for measuring should be on
the loading station. For the radio pressure sensor PM, this is
absolutely necessary.
