Purge Control
A purge is used to prime the lines with new material, push old material out
of the dispense valve, and/or prepare the system for automatic operation. It
is generally used before production and after periods of static flow. A purge
cycle consists of dispensing a preset volume of material at a preset flow
rate that’s sufficient to replace the entire contents of the mix tube. This is
followed by a normal reload cycle.
If the dispensing system is in
Auto Mode
with the
Dispense Ready
and
OK
to Purge
indicators illuminated, the purge cycle will be initiated
automatically. In
Manual Mode
, the operator must initiate the purge cycle by
pressing the
Manual Purge
push button or clear the nozzle by initiating any
other dispensing operation. If for some reason the nozzle is not purged
before the purge timer reaches its’ critical limit, a
Purge Fault
is generated.
This fault will inhibit future dispense cycles. The
Purge Fault
must be reset
before continuing.
The section on the left side of the screen displays the current value of the
Purge Timer
and displays preset values for the purge
Warning Limit
and
Fault Limit
. The
Purge Timer
push button allows the operator to activate or
deactivate the purge timer. A
Shot Counter
is displayed at the bottom of the
screen. Indicators are also present denoting
Purging
,
Dispensing
,
Reloading
, and
Purge Complete
.
