22.2 Prerequisites to execute Flow Measurements
•
The tape measure has been fastened so that the executing person can find the meas-
urement spots/verticals without any problems.
•
The device parameters have been set according to the respective measurement place
(the width of the water body e.g. must be available).
See Sect. “30 Application Parameters Menu”.
•
The unit has been connected to the display module (smartphone, tablet, notebook, PC
etc.).
See Sect. “26 Setting Up Connection”.
•
There are sufficient safeguard measures available for the security of the executing per-
son to avoid accidents.
22.3 Steps to execute Flow Measurements
Procedure:
1. Open the transmitter cover and turn the transmitter on by using the on/off switch.
Then close the cover again.
2. Read the first measuring spot/vertical on the display (start button, Fig. 22-1 no. 1)
and find it in the water body. If the parameters are set correctly the transmitter will
recommend the according measurement spots for the grid measurement.
See also Sect. “31.1 Menu >Readings<: Information and Parameter Setting
Options”.
3. Hold the transmitter vertically into the water body so that the
sensor measures to-
wards the flow direction
. The
handle
on the guide bar then is aligned in a straight
line
with the flow direction
.
The spirit level on the top of the guide bar provides information on whether the sensor
is aligned parallel to the water surface.
Use the level ruler on the reverse side of the guide bar to cross-check the depth
measurement.
Observe possible measuring depth of NivuFlow Stick
The
depth measurement
of the sensor used will work only as long as the pressure com-
pensation element is above the water level.
Flow metering
using cross correlation requires a minimum water level of 30 mm above the
sensor to achieve usable results.
