Using the NivuFlow Stick Measurement System
21 General Information on Device Use
21.1 Energy-saving mode (Powerdown)
After a pre-set period of (5…720 minutes) of inactivity the NivuFlow Stick transmitter saves
the existing data and goes into energy-saving mode (Powerdown).
Use the On/Off switch to restart and to resume the measurement.
Set the period until Powerdown under >System< / >Time/Date< / >Powerdown<.
21.2 Gaskets
Check the gaskets on the enclosure cover.
Before closing the cover make sure that the gasket is clean and undamaged, so:
1. Remove debris and/or dirt.
2. Replace defective gaskets.
3. Apply silicone grease if necessary.
Gaskets
The legally associated companies and/or subsidiaries of NIVUS group cannot be held re-
sponsible for any instrument damage resulting from the use of defective or leaking gaskets.
21.3 Degree of protection
CAUTION
IP67 Protection only with enclosure cover closed
With the cover opened (enclosure cover to switch on/off or open battery compartment) the
flow transmitter does not provide appropriate protection against water leaking in and hence
may be damaged when flooded.
Keep the enclosure cover closed during operation.
22 Executing Flow Measurements
22.1 Required measuring equipment and aids
Besides having the NivuFlow Stick flow measurement system and a display and operating
module (smartphone, tablet, notebook or PC) available, a suitably long tape measure as well
as aids to fasten the tape measure on the rim of the water body are required.
Depending on the type of water body additional safety measures for the executing person in
order to avoid accidents due to streaming or falling may be necessary.
Observe problems due to powerful flow
A sensor on a (telescopic) rod in powerful flow and at greater depths is always in motion
and, due to this, in danger to be washed away. This makes it difficult to align and to hold
the sensor against the flow direction for the period of an individual measurement.
