6-6 Setting System Board Jumpers
CLEARING YOUR PASSWORD
If you forgot your password, use the following procedure to
disable your current password and to set a new one.
1.
Turn off and unplug the system and any external
options.
2.
Remove the system unit cover (see “Removing the
Cover” in Chapter 4).
3.
Locate jumper JP2 on the system board (see the figure
earlier in this chapter).
You might have to remove any installed expansion
boards to access the jumper (see “Board Removal” in
Chapter 5).
4.
Set a jumper on the JP2 pins 1 and 2.
5.
Replace the system unit cover (see Chapter 4).
6.
Connect system power cables and external options.
7.
Power on the system. The system lets you boot your
computer.
8.
Power off and unplug the system and any external
options.
9.
Remove the jumper block from the JP2 pins.
10.
If you removed any expansion boards, replace them
(see “Board Installation” in Chapter 5).
11.
Replace the system unit cover (see Chapter 4).
12.
Run Setup to set a new password (see “Security Menu”
in Chapter 2).
