Multimedia Components (multimedia models)
Your computer’s sound board has four jacks that allow you
to attach components such as speakers, a microphone, or a
stereo amplifier to the back of the system. Use the following
jacks to attach your multimedia peripherals:
■
Line in jack — connects a stereo amplifier, cassette and
CD players.
■
Microphone in jack — allows you to connect a
microphone for voice input.
■
Line out jack — lets you bypass your system board’s
internal amplifier to connect powered speakers or an
external amplifier for audio output.
■
Speaker out jack — provides a speaker connection for
audio output from the sound board’s built-in power
amplifier. Connect the speakers that come with your
multimedia system to this jack.
NOTE
You can connect optional headphones to
the jack on the front panel of the CD-ROM reader.
Use the instructions in the following sections to connect the
standard components (speakers and microphone) to your
system.
