Using Your Computer 1-21
Hard Disk
Your computer supports up to four intelligent drive
electronics (IDE) hard disks. A 3 1/2-inch, IDE hard
disk comes standard in hard disk configurations. Your
computer designates the hard disk as drive C.
NEC formatted your hard disk and installed all your soft-
ware on the hard disk at the factory.
!
CAUTION: Do not format the hard disk.
Formatting the hard disk destroys all of the data on
the disk.
Keyboard
An industry-standard, membrane keyboard comes with your
computer. The keyboard is detachable and has adjustable
supports. Keyboard key functions depend on the operating
system or software application program you use. See the
documentation that comes with your operating system or
software. A general description of keyboard features
follows.
NOTE
Most of the keys have a repeat function.
When you hold down a key, the character or func-
tion repeats until you release the key.
You can set keyboard auto-repeat and delay rates in
the Setup utility (see Chapter 2).
